Shukugawa OCC Saturday Classes - Saturday, June 20

Class 100

After few minutes catch up, the students presented their ideas for a perfect tour to each other. We went through some errors as a group. We reviewed the vocabulary with a split crossword before finishing with the students describing famous locations around Japan.

Homework

Please write about a trip abroad. When/where did you go? What did you do? Did you have any problems? How was the trip?

Class 300

We opened with the students discussing the division of housework in their homes. We compared today's norms with those of their parents' generations. The talk moved on to speculating how advances in technology may make housework easier in the future. We had a chat about whether gender is a factor in suitability for particular professions. We finished with a short exercise on house-related idioms (e.g. hitting the roof, plans going out the window).

Homework

Please choose one chore and describe how you do it. Try to describe the process as precisely as possible.

Class 200

We spent much of the class doing activities and games on the use of definite and indefinite articles. We checked the homework from last week and went through the reading on p.30, checked for understanding as well as analysing the use of a/the/-.

Homework

Please do the exercises on p.31 and read through the questions in section 7, p.32 for discussion next week.

Class 400

We spent most of our time going through the vocabulary homework from last week both in groups and as a class before reviewing with a split crossword. We had some short discussions along the way as things came up, but we didn't have enough time to get into the main issue (global warming).

Homework

Please read p.32 and prepare to discuss the issue as well as how you personally contribute to the problem and/or solution of global warming.
